Coming to terms with the Southern Indiana Blues

Coming to terms with the Southern Indiana Blues

A Poem by Moonflower
"

For the good ol boys and the downhome gals, for the ones with too many friends, the ones without any pals, for you, for me..and most of all for those who don't know about our dreams.

"

And some of these ol' boys they sing the blues

pour their voices out in condescending tunes

And some of them feel like its the thing to do,

Just drink their beer in a cloud of smoke

and think about what life does to you..

Yeah everywhere I see the patterns

All these ancient shadows, blue-grey hues

I see the cracks in the pavement

As I make my way

towards you..

<chorus>

Yeah I guess we always wish

Just hope to find something

better than this

But Darlin', I don't think

anything

Could be better than this

Dark days and the world is beneath

the shadow

of an angry, crying cloud

Don't ya ever wonder if the thunder

is his pain breaking out

..breaking through

Yeah sometimes it's like

We never know what to do

<chorus>

But Darlin' if we just have patience

The sun will surely shine again

Your eyes they tell a glorious tale

and remind me there's still beauty in the world

And someday we all find a sweeter muse

Those boys will walk outta the rain

(when the smoke parts they'll forget their pain)

And sing a lighter, joyful tune

<chorus>

I like this poem. Better to sing and drink. Then swim in the sadness of misery and disappointment. I like the positive feel of the poem. Remind of my days in the Army. Where men celebrated being alive and appreciate each coming day. A outstanding poem. I need a night of singing and being loud.

First of all, I was inspired to read this because I, too, live in Southern Indiana. This is great, I totally pictured a country music video. :)

Nice song. You nailed the sorry that pulls the lonely souls into the bar.
