The Coldest Genesis

The Coldest Genesis

A Poem by DezChampion
"

Perhaps Thomas Hobbes, the philosopher who declared that Man was born evil, was correct. (Continued in Note for Reviewers)

"

The cold lights, the stone lights

Rigid veins, soul of abyss;

fathomed, left unfinished

The severed lights, the fallen lights

Chaos arousing fires under our breath;

thick, suffocating

The wicked lights, the violent lights

The endless lights

Exhausting our darkest of wombs;

malevolent, vaporous

The uncontrolled, devilish lights;

vengeful,

wronged,

malignant lights

that have stolen my body away,

brought to an abode where the Cynic is God,

and my essence becomes

anew.

Author's Note

DezChampion
Perhaps Thomas Hobbes, the philosopher who declared that Man is born evil, was correct. And that goodness is a privilege attained only by a few, and extirpated from the human body after death. That the light that creates us only stays with some.

Interesting concept, and well executed. The last grouping feels a bit disconnected with the first grouping, but maybe that's the point. I'm not excellent with poetry.
