I am a camera

As Above

 

I am a camera

see through closed eyes

when my aperture opens

I make fools from the wise.

When my shutter clicks

I let the light in

turn the world upside down

then reverse it again.

 

I am a camera

I can distort the truth

I can make you all pretty

I can bring back youth.

I can freeze action

I can stop time

Record beauty and the beast

and the scene of the crime.

 

I am a camera

evolved over many years

I remember bringing

great painters fear.

Recording history

for all to see

but will technology

be the death of me?

Wow, I absolutly loved this one! I am a collector of old family photos and this one really hit home. It is a shame cameras are being used less because of cell phones and digital cameras. My old camera took great pictures and I dropped it. This would make a cute scripture on the front of a photo alblum. Thank you for sharing, awesome creative writing!!

Aaaaah brilliant! A photography poem one of my great passions in life other than words. A neat rhyme and structure with an apt fluency that in all makes this piece rather quaint. Very humorous also, bringing painters fear and making us all pretty; it is simple, delicate yet I would say definitely comes under the category of less is more. Sometimes people overcomplicate but I feel you definitely have balance :)

Great stuff, a nice read after a pile of pessimistic angsts, love-loss moans and distasteful rhymes that I discovered from my other read requests (of which there were many) Just a shame I did not come across this sooner.

I like the way you've used the camera's creativity, made it more than a tool or whatever... you're so right about it, it can misrepresent truth, can re-create what seems real etc.
