THE PHILOSOPHER'S OVEN

THE PHILOSOPHER'S OVEN

A Poem by Dianah
"

Some thoughts about keeping an open mind (not that I always do:). The title was inspired by the philosopher Rene Descartes, who apparently sat in a huge oven to help him think!

"

THE PHILOSOPHERS OVEN (inspired by Rene Descartes)

Why limit yourself to heaven or hell

when there are infinite realities to explore.

Realms which are undecipherable

but when discovered, want to study more.

Blinkered by beliefs which will soon be out of date

out of time, out of this world.

We want to know our Fate.

What laws apply to the dark unexplored realms

in the minds of  genii and madmen?

Or the realms of another universe

to be exploited by the ad men.

Scientists dissect reality and analyse it

but can they have an explanation it all?

The rational mind cannot answer all our questions

as we see the rise before the Fall.

My irrational mind wanders across the

boundaries the scientists and theologians draw.

Out of philosophers ovens come freshly baked thoughts

which I am delighted to devour.

Sweet knowledge, feed us evermore

Let us drink from cups of overflowing wisdom

have faith to open the bolted rusty doors

and stretch our minds on racks with no resistance.

Author's Note

Dianah
I wrote this about a year ago. A bit of a rant rather than a prose poem. It is still just my view, an ode to a French philosopher .
