BIPOLAR BEAR

BIPOLAR BEAR

BIPOLAR BEAR

Up the ladders
down the stairs
feel like a bipolar bear

Side effects
the whole body
Immune system barely there.

Hibernate
She cancels date
time to wear new frown.

Pills and potions
and magic lotions
in toxic waste she drowns.

Hiding lies
behind dark eyes
Wants to scream out loud.

Healthy dining
silver linings
on edge of brooding clouds.

Hope patches
Love thatches
tattered tapestries.

Friends care
bipolar bears
won't drown in stormy seas.

This is stunning. It's a dark portrait and a piece that some may find disturbing, but I find very insightful. My own father has had some pretty extreme bipolar outbursts, and being there to see all that....this is a perfect painting of it. Very beautiful and very haunting.

Very beautiful. I love your use of double entendre and metaphorical imagery. As someone who has an intimate relationship with, and understanding of, bipolar disorder, I was able to appreciate this piece even more. It spoke to me in the way that you intended. Kudos. Thumbs up.
