Previous Version
This is a previous version of Back home blues ~ Liverpool.

On the waterfront waiting in Brando's head
for scraps like a seagull I fill with dread.
Scavenging hyenas laugh in my ear
as I drown my sorrows in stagnant beer.
The docks have dried up like yesterdays tears
The blues follow me after all these years.
Home to Copy cats chilling in the basement flat
I dream of smokey nightclubs and fancy spats.
He sat in a corner in shiny new shoes
The gambler said I got nothing to lose.
He said let it all out til your lungs are spent
so I exorcised my spirits with last weeks rent.
So I'll sing for my supper and breakfast too
in a Hope Street basement, painted blue.
