I Can Feel The World

I Can Feel The World

A Poem by D. L. Vaccaro

"
Light my brain with your golden matches,
I can feel the smoke fill my head,
I can feel the gray matter burning,
I can feel the world spinning.

Break my back with your leather latches,
I can feel the whip cracking,
I can feel the skin parting,
I can feel the world dying.

Tie my arms and legs to your machine,
I can feel the blood draining,
I can feel the adrenaline pumping,
I can feel the world breathing.

Can you feel it? Can you believe it?
I can feel it all as you slice my skin.
Can you feel me? Can you believe me?
You can feel it deep down within.
Listen.

Lie my head on your flossy pillow
I can feel the ground shake,
I can feel the earth quake,
I can feel the world fighting.

Burn my skin with double boiling oil,
I can feel the room tilting,
I can feel the ceiling groaning,
I can feel the world crying.

Turn my corpse towards the river,
I can feel the grass growing,
I can feel the children laughing,
I can feel the world living.

Can you feel it? Can you believe it?
I can feel it all as you slice my skin.
Can you feel me? Can you believe me?
You can feel it deep down within.
Listen.
Hear it.
Listen.

The poem is amazing. I like the questions you open up with the strong statements. A very good ending to a outstanding poem.
