The human ego is a willful beast

Women crave social power

While men crave monetary

A partner to show off to the girls who hate me

A hot girl in a Benz for those who didn't wanna date me

We fall in love with the world and the creatures in it

"I went on 3 dates last week, all of them guys were spending"

"I fucked 3 girls, real freaks, and all of their eyes were spinning"

Say anything to prove to all that we're the prize and winning

But what's the cost of a win?

Is it inner peace?

You come home to a place that's pretty much empty

Don't really care about who's in it or how to try and spin it

When the silence gets thicker

You turn straight to the liquor

Anything to cover up the way you feel inside

Haven't smiled in weeks but that's a trait you hide

Now you're doing it all over just to feel alive

And you'll probably continue til the day you die.

But that's okay, there's a way to get out of the loop

There's a man who caught on and went and strapped up his boots

Took a trip to the nation that he's formally from

Just to tell all the people that the kingdom has come

And they scoffed and they turned their heads away

Asked "Who is this guy? Talking 'bout he found the way."

And they threw him slander and tried to break him down

Nailed his arms to the cross before a big old crowd

And they walked off with smugness like they really did something

But a couple days later they learned something was bubbling

The messiah that they tried to so dearly kill off

Was alive, and our sins were the price that it cost

So they asked for forgiveness full of shame and fear

And he stepped to the podium and said "hear hear"

I have news for you today, all your sins have been paid

All required going forward is repent, and be saved

Don't let pride or your ego turn you into a coward

Then you'll be borderline a slave in your quest for more power

And they carried these words, though they carried them loosely

Unfamiliar with the concept of retribution.
