Love Starts With The Father

They say that you will never know love until you know God

And for a long time, I convinced myself that I knew what I was doing

Bouncing from lover to lover left me even more ruined

And so the process began

And I whispered my secrets to him like I did a best friend

And to my surprise, he always answered

And I extended loyalty towards him

Went to him with all of my fears

And my good news 

Took from him direction

And learned accountability too 

I learned how to allow love to come in

To let him nourish me with encouragement and grace

I learned understanding, acceptance, and even patience

And God said to me 

"Make sure you go ahead and take notes.

Because when the time is right,

With these tools,

You will love someone potently."
