A Ghastly Encounter

A Ghastly Encounter

A Poem by Danni

I never thought I'd encounter a ghost
But when you left, I became one
Stripped of love, lust, and you
What was I to become?
You left me to become gray-clad ash
Another fate would have been a blessing
But without the embrace of my love
Another fate was unlikely, impossible; I was foreordained
I had grasped and clung to a future
Which you ripped and yanked away
Without a sturdy platform, I became ghastly and uncontrollable
Sobbing wildly, my only listener was what I saw as a fiery-red, angry sky
I slowly became what I am now
Clad of an emotionless demeanor, desiring to die
But while dying would have been a solace
I was not granted even that
I faded to a creature
One with thick blue veins swelling through wax paper skin
Goodbye

Really enjoyed this poem. You captured beautifully what it feels like to become a ghost of the person you once were before some form of heart break. Very well done, great imagery.
