My Kingdom Of Bone

My Kingdom Of Bone

A Poem by Brandon Taylor-Black
"

I Rule From My Mausoleum

"

        Stale air in the darkness
Webs, a veil, hang down
Dusty footsteps, lead astray
An insect carcass crown

Creaks that echo, resounding
Squeaks from shadow dwelling mice
Stairs long since used, age abused
Sheltered from the light

A monolith, cenotaph...chamber of eternal sleep
Concrete sentry of Death
Only life, is the time that creeps
Suffocating on stale breath

In my mausoleum, I rule from a rotten throne
Carrion courtiers, a Kingdom of Corpses
Vampire Queen, and eunuchs in waiting
I rule my Kingdom Of Bone

When I first read the title..I thought this was going to be some comedic-erotic poem or something. But I was way off!! This was vivid it painted a picture in my mind, I could see the old dusty, musty, creepy mausolem. With skeletons and everything. This was good.
