The Monster

The Monster

A Poem by Brandon Taylor-Black
"

I tried to write this from a childs perspective...

"

        The power's gone
I'm in the dark
A huge black shadow
Where monsters lurk
I can hear him breathing
I can smell his breath
Someone please help me
I'm scared to Death
He's by the sofa
No wait... By the door
I hate the sound
Of his feet on the floor
I'm holding my breath
Maybe he won't find me
He'll go and find eat
Another child for tea
He's getting closer
Arghhh! What was that?
Get a grip son
It was only the cat
I wish there was light here
Oh how I wish
That the monster would go
And leave me in peace
I daren't close my eyes
I daren't even move
Tomorrow I'm sleeping
In Mum and Dads room
What is that buzzing?
Hallelujah, It's light
The monster is gone now
So I'll bid you Goodnight!

The Imagination, when your in the dark and hear noises all kinds of things are created in your mind.
And children have the most vivid imaginations.
Great write.
