I Can't Keep Up...

I know, second place is nothing to be ashamed of but... I'm always behind the same exact people and it kinda sucks

I can run a lap

With just one shoe

I can keep up with them

And sometimes you

I'm always coming in second place

Can I do something

To save my face?

Make up excuses like JJ does?

Or say I meant to

Just because?

I keep trying

To no avail,

Second place feels

Like such a fail

But It's not just on the track I'm second

It's in the classroom too

Because no matter how hard I try

I can never manage to keep up with you

I swear 

It gets harder and harder

And first place is moving 

farther and farther

Out of my grasp

And I can't reach it

No matter how hard I try

I get defeated

You're the best 

Or the worst 

No in-between

And It really hurts

That it can't be me

I was the best 

When it all began

Whether I scored higher on tests

Or whether I ran

But I guess we all have our time

I just wish

I hadn't already lost mine
