broken girl

broken girl

A Poem by Annabelle Lee
"

it hurts me too

"
she tugs at the bulk around her middle
and wonders how other girls can have so little
she smears sticky goo across her face
so she can be pretty, and find her place
she wakes up early to construct her curls
so she might be more like other girls
they can be so tough they can be so mean
you dont understand, they aren't what they seem
her sweet-as-sugar friend since third grade
you wouldn't believe what she went and said!
she called her a boy, said she was a s**t
and even the toughest girls have to say, "enough!"
i can act badass, a tomboy with no feelings, strong
but things get to me, i can only take it for so long
and sometimes all the comforting words in the world
will never be enough to repair a broken girl

thank you
So sad what kids do to each other. Mostly to hide the insecurity they have buried so deep inside. Enjoyed reading.
