Caught me

Caught me

A Poem by Annabelle Lee
"

more of my nonsensical wonderings

"
A cover of worn old leather
Soft and used
Strong from abuse

Pages yellowed from hands
That turned them and turned them
And I wish I could burn them

Ink,
Fading and soft
From memories, that were nearly lost

Won't open this book,
For fear of the day
That the spine falls apart, and the words fade away

But somehow, you've pulled the word out of me
Rebound and repainted the pages
Set me free from all of my cages

I can't thank you enough
For the gift that you've brought me
I was falling and you, there, caught me

I love old books, and I am not afraid to read them I am currently reading an old copy of the Hobbit. The yellowed pages and slightly musty smell only enhance the memories of the first time I read this story. I think you have described the fragility of old books perfectly.

This is a real beauty. A touching story about the power of love.
And, also a reminder about why my one of my favorite places to
be is used book stores.

Beautifully done. A bible is definitely right up there as far as worn pages. Basically, any old book that you love. Welcome back:)

My first thought was the Bible. This is an extremely well written piece, not one nonsensical word in the lot. Very well done. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

I really liked this Annabelle, it's very different than anything you've written before. It shows a new creative side, replete with imagery and symbolism, a very mature undertaking for you! I'm impressed.

This can be read in so many different ways, an old book, old ideals, poetry, I love the nuances of it, can make it my own. Beautiful work Annabelle.

ha if you do say so yourself ;-)
old books are like old people, many tales to tell if we are patient and kind and take care and time to absorb them. but we must be delicate and gentle, let things unfold as they may and absorb what the teachings, the lessons are. i thought of a bible when i first read this, then of a journal and then of our sages. whatever your source, the message rings true. well written and nicely expressed.

I like it. It's like old poems and writing, like my journals. The only thing I ever wrote before I got on the WC.
