What they should

What they should

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

I'm just a small town girl
Not yet the age of fifteen
But I'll tell you that
I'm something you've never seen

I've been broken bruised and battered
Rotten to the core
I've been left behind
And not quite sure what for

I hang out with all different kinds of folk
Girls and boys of all ages
And I know exactly what I want
Won't put up with any cages

I have a plan for my future
Simple but all laid out
And if you would bother to listen
You might know what I'm about

Graduate a year early
Get the hell out of high school and this town
And I think it's pretty obvious
They don't need me around

Take off for a higher education
Somewhere to get my degree
And learn what I need to
So I can make some green

A social worker occupation
Will suit this girl just fine
And I don't care what you think
This job will do just fine

I'm too smart for this?
Brighter future you say?
The brightest future I can see for myself
Is giving others what I'd had taken away

Homes and families galore
For children in broken homes
But you're focused on yourselves
And choose to leave the kids alone

They need someone to listen to them
And care how they turn out
Someone to love them
Someone to help them out

Thousands of careers out there
With people with hearts like mine
But most people only care
About making this amount of money in this amount of time

Out to California
To start a family of my own
And make sure my house
Can be my children's home

Maybe a few kids from myself
And adopt another few
I don't care what age
And neither should any of you

A kid who needs help is a kid who needs help
But nobody's willing to look
And it breaks my heart to see
People not doing what they should

She's back....louder, stronger, and with more damned conviction than ever....you voice is heard here, people don't always do what they should, it's a sad fact of life unfortunately. You keep making noise, hopefully someone will hear you Annabelle, never give up...good one!

I don't care for the preachiness toward the end, but I do like the message in this piece, Annabelle. Good for you, girl. Stick to your plan, I have every confidence you'll make a world of difference.

Welcome :) Xx
Lovin' on the children. The amount of children without homes is depressing. That said, there will only ever be certain people to help quell that problem. Not everyone was meant for adoption-or even for kids for that matter.

Since few would probably even think to say it, I will: thank you for adopting.

I have many little angels that run my realm.I have a new one lately she is only 8. Already we love her. The mommy (if that is what we call her) did not like the fact that I took my new little angel with one broken wing to get spruced up. The mom told me she could of used MY money for better things. This little angel with one broken wing needed a new hair do so bad.I didn't even know she had blue eyes...couldn't see them. She is not my first my daughters laugh when we are asked how many in our home-heck we don't know they come and go.I do it on my own with no pay.It is my bonus in life to help care for little angels with broken wings. The mommy didn't come home last night ...good stay gone I say (they never fight you in court this way) if you file for custody they will. They have to get their checks! It drives me broke but then a beautiful little angel with one broken wing goes to school (I took her today she wanted me to walk her in) so proud of her new hair and new outfit we couldn't help it...head held high home work in order....the broken wing will heal ...and these things will help. My life was well it was what it was...and now I love little angels and you know what the love i get back is worth all the money we spend...chase this dream ,chase it , hold it and you will receive far more then you give...and the bad mommy's will just let you*)*)
Thank you it was nice to share my morning and look at all this emotion your lovely writing has caused*)

Annabelle is a writer with a mission. and a noble one at that. a heart of gold and a pocketful of memories to guide her in her future toward those things which will make a difference for those who are not so fortunate...clever and engaging write, well spoken and endearing.
