Your turn

Your turn

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

Sick of all the names
And all the stupid kids
High school sucks a*s
Someone get me out of this
Walk in the lunchroom every morning
Can already hear what you say
Why do you torment me?
What'd I do to you anyway?
Call me a s**t
A hypocrite
A w***e
Two faced and ugly
Sometimes fat
What for?
What does calling me names
Accomplish for you
Unless all you want
Is someone pissed off at you
But you're a sick sadistic b*****d
My pain causes your euphoria, puts you somewhere high
And you're so worried about your own self acceptance
You've NEVER considered mine!
I already have to face the fact every day
That I'm not supposed to be here
I was a goddamn mistake
I don't want to hear about the Lord's plans
Because my parents' was nowhere close
I'm ashamed of myself
And now everyone knows
I hope you're happy with how you've turned out
I hope someday you'll remember me
And I'll manage to tear YOU apart
With another memory
I hope that this short time in school
Has given you what you needed
And I hope someday you'll look up at me
And realize you were defeated
You can't crash me to the ground
Far too many have tried
And I hope you feel like a douchebag
After everyone's seen you've cried

High school can be hell. Bullies aren't born, they're created. In a sense they're playing hot potato with violence. The vast majority of the time they're being horribly tormented by some one lording over them like some kind of evil deity. That pretty, bitchy little cheer leader could well be surviving years of sexual abuse from her mother's boyfriend and that big jock a*****e could be enduring daily beatings from his drunken father. In fact it's very likely. I seem to remember a poem you wrote expressing your desire to help troubled, misunderstood kids. Bullies are some of the most troubled, misunderstood kids you're going to come across and getting to the source of they're torment can be really difficult because they're using a "tough as nails, bad to the bone" defense mechanism guaranteed to shut down all but the best councilors, teachers and cops they come across. Why am I so sure about this? You're a smart girl Annabelle and I'm sure you already know.

Thanks, Ricochet.
Nice rant of a poem Annabelle, bleurgh, high school, for some, the best of times and people stay stuck in that mindset or the worst of times...thankfully it doesn't last forever and with your strength and moxy can move beyond their petty bullshit.

haha thanks, Frieda!
trust me , the jocks and bullies end up being bag boys at grocery stores or used car salesmen...and the cheerleaders become beauty pageant burn outs with husbands who beat them or beauticians with no husband and five kids....well written display of angst and apathy on your part.....a good reminder of the values kids don't yet understand.

Stay strong- get through- believe in yourself. It's hard to believe but someday high school will be a blip on the radar to a well lived life.
