Anticipation

Anticipation

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

Just waiting
Waiting
for something to begin
On my toes with suspense
Needing to be reigned in

It's a joke with no punchline
A question with no answer
A country song with no lyrics
A pole with no dancer

Anticipation
Waiting for the train to leave the station
Anticipating
Baby just keep waiting

It's the lip-biting, foot tapping, unbearable wait
You hope for something early and it shows up late
Keep dreaming about whatever you're anticipating
And ignore the fact when it comes that it's kept you waiting

Something to be excited for
But you're so focused on the window that you miss the door
Anticipation
The train left you at the station

You know, as soon as I read that line about the pole with no dancer I scrolled down to find Mark's review and I was not disappointed ;-) I liked this piece because it resonated...been there. Well done.

A pole with no dancer!?!? HA! That cracked me up. This reads like a country song with lyrics. Good job Dog.
