Millenial

Millenial

A Poem by Annabelle Lee

According to an article
Our lit teacher made us read
This generation is snobbish
And overcome with greed

Using big words like narcissism
and trying to coat it with sarcasm
Why they're pointing fingers
Isn't something I can fathom

We're too wrapped up in technology
And cyber communication
A society much bigger
than the fifty states in this nation

The "Me Me Me" generation
They had a word for it
Millennial or something
I think that's a crock of s**t

We live in small town U.S.A.
Call people sir and ma'am
Most of us work for what we get
And help out who we can

You can't put our generation in a box
And shove statistics in our faces
Maybe you shouldn't go sticking your nose
in unfamiliar places

Comparing our generation to the hipster bums
Is really quite offensive
Like comparing yours to hippies
Might make you slightly aggressive

Tell you over and over
Not to generalize
But what do you go and do?
give it another try

Someday I'll be bigger
Much bigger than all of you
And I will be capable of more
Than anything you think you can do

About
Hello everyone I am Annabelle Lee. I am FINALLY, after June 12, the ripe old age of fifteen. I'm a poet. I want to write novels, as well, but those do not belong on this site in hopes that someday .. more..
