we found our ruin

in a vacant land

you tried to show me

what it is to l o v e something

that i can love

just like {the rest of} you .

 

but i can’t love

Author's Note

Writing from the perspective of a sociopath is an interesting experience.
I apologize if you find my poetry a little odd. I'm a little odd myself, so I suppose it's fitting.

I'm a hardcore grammar and spelling nazi. It can seem borderline elitist at times but don't be scared off, this piece right here - it goes against the rules of formatting that I so desperately follow. It works though, you're using the formatting itself as an art form and creative medium is a clever feat that not many can accomplish in a way that demands respect. It's good. I wouldn't use this formatting too often as it's something that brushes against the spine of every writer and reader like an almost disaster. You like it but too much and you break the specialness. Props though.

Thank you for taking the time to review my work. I understand, I've been called a grammar nazi myself on a number of occasions. Even so, I am a visual artist as well as a writer, and I felt it would be fun to mess with the formatting of my poem. I ended up with this, and I decided I liked it. It's certainly different from other poetry I've written, but I found trying a different style refreshing. Thanks again. :)
