Real Life Geometrics

Real Life Geometrics

A Poem by David Scott

I gave my circle of being whole
becoming a sphere of our completeness,
until it began to unravel into a downward spiral
twisting into a love triangle of misdirection...
then all the angles disconnected
leaving us nothing more than tangents;
unloved souls stretched...
on linear paths to nowhere ~

I really enjoy the way you've woven all these geometric terms into your love poem without it coming across as one bit "manufactured" for the purpose of illustrating your title message. Instead, the writing flows both logically & meaningfully, showing us the various stages of knowing & loving another. Very clever & original.

The name of this attached me just as I read it, as I love mathematics.
This is just so beautiful, I'm speechless. Your talent is incredible.

Thank you very much for your enthusiastic review. I will stop by and return the favor soon.
i love how you intertwined mathematics into this write...your words painted a geometrical
portrait of brilliance.
thank you for sharing

ahaha! great tribute to mathematics ..love it! and apt personifications ... especially appreciate your use of tangents and linear paths .. makes me want to get out my compass and protractor ..and watch those lines spinning off the spheres :)

u know what i like most on ur poems? You do math with your words and in the end when u put them there it's like you find a solution.. I like that.. I've learnt some of words that I didn't know were existing in English..Thank you for bringin it here.

Love the mathematical references in this one! When a circle is just two and suddenly a third is interjected, the triangle is never as warm and fuzzy as the circle was. Indeed, it begins a path to nowhere. Very good metaphor in this one. Lydi**

It seems so obvious when you go the math... Ha.
Thank you Lydi.
This is really cool, very creative, and it flows in a neat way to almost as if you can feel it spinning into completeness and spiraling out of control to where you are stretching and unable to bring it all back together. Very neat!

I am humbly honored. Thank you again.
Now I wish I would have paid attention in geometry class. Simple math was hard enough but I did learn that one plus one does sometimes equal three and often when it does the final sum is one. Wow, that felt like algebra. Nah, coulbn't be. I liked how you kept this in sync with rthe theme David.

From what I hear love is a long road that always ends back up where it belongs and along the way you can spit or pick flowers, or fold in upon yourself and time travel but if is genuine, the road ends where it begins :)

who know my friend, impossible things happen all the time :)
There is seriously nothing I love more than when science becomes poetry; reason becomes nonsense; truth becomes dream; dream becomes truth; quantum refutes fact...
In that way, I gobbled this up and licked my fingers afterward...
As for the content, that whole love triangle equation I cannot relate to, though theoretically of course, I understand that it happens, and not always by design. I just would never in a million years consider cheating on my man. The last relationship I ended was due to his infidelity. I threw apples at his head and gave him a black eye. Not my fault if the fool didn't duck, right? Then I threw all of his stuff out in the snow and locked him out ...naked.
The perfect circle becoming a vortex sucking the life out of love, though..that is a very powerful allusion. Really excellent.
