Real Life Geometrics

Real Life Geometrics

A Poem by David Scott

I gave my circle of being whole
becoming a sphere of our completeness,
until it began to unravel into a downward spiral
twisting into a love triangle of misdirection...
then all the angles disconnected
leaving us nothing more than tangents;
unloved souls stretched...
on linear paths to nowhere ~

I saw cartoon matchstick men and woman unravel before my very eyes as I read these words. From circle, sphere, spiral, to broken shapes and lines break and fade away, like a direct hit on the old asteroids arcade game. While seeing this I saw a life, or lives unravel as they too fade from each other.
Beautifully stated.

Thank you for the comment Lynn. I do love your thoughts.
Fantastic imagery and flow of geometrics on life's paths and loves. Very clever! Brilliant! I wish I thought of this beauty, David!

You made this poem look so easy like off the cuff. Loved the whole concept!
wow, nice metaphor carried out here...terrific, stuff, David...love the last line especially...
as much as i like the poem...the only drawback is that it reminded me of how awful i was in geometry and trigonometry...what a struggle

well makes sense because love can be a real struggle when it becomes one-sided, when one disconnects.
