The Twisted Internet

The Twisted Internet

A Poem by Dushyant Thadani

I wish I could find something real
In this twisted wired world
I wish connections could exist in reality
Not in fake virtuality
Where we have to search for one
When reality gave us none

I wish I could feel safe to talk
About my true feelings and emotions
In person and not to a computer
Or a phone or any freaking tablet
I wish it could be simpler than this
Like it was when my parents were here

It all started with a telephone
Which was a gift that kept us connected
And then moved on to the internet
Which had real good intentions
But made us its slave
Capturing us in its twisted rave

Things used to be so much simpler
Emotions were a lot stronger then
The passion and the drive was crazy
And people weren't lazy
And here I am just typing, not writing
A simple poem complaining about all this

They say we live in a world where people are closer now to strangers online than they are the people across their living room. Your words sting the soul... and well they should.
