Hollow

Hollow

A Poem by Drone17

He hides within his words.

Hides behind his lies.

His silver tongue, sweet like honey.

His eyes ever so charming.

An idol to all, a lover to none.

For he is hollow to all but one.

Things that caused joy and rage.

Now fade with the rain.

The rain that clouds his vision.

He is a shell, struggling to retain his humanity.

Fighting to remember, fighting to feel.

He doesn’t want to lose himself.

As he grasps for his sanity.

It slips through his fingers.

But the more he struggles.

The madder he gets, the more he loses.

He is a hollow man.

Full of nothing but air.

Wishing for more.

Looking to live.

Yet he is already dead.
