What are you doing on Valentines day?

What are you doing on Valentines day?

A Story by Deanna M.

It was the day before Valentines day and I was sitting in a cafe at a table, drinking my chi tea latte, and typing my new book on my laptop called Love Finds you on Valentines Day. I had been writing this for a while, and I was in the middle of writing chapter four when all of a sudden I got writers block.
"Of all times". I thought to myself.  "Why did I have to get writers block now?"  My deadline was coming up soon, and I had no room for writers block. I took a sip of my chi tea latte and looked around the room for some inspiration.  I wish I could say I found something but nothing.  All I saw were the baristas wearing their Valentines day uniforms serving their special Valentines day coffee, and everyone with their dates sitting at tables gazing into each others eye.  Here I sat alone.
"How depressing." I whispered.  All my life I wanted to find the perfect guy who would take me out on romantic dinners, or out for coffee.  Maybe even a movie, or take long walks along the beach.  I wanted to find love for so many years.  I was close to having that kind of love once, but it turned out that he was sharing that same love with someone else.  I always thought since I wrote about romantic things that I would find those same romantic things that I wrote about, but boy was I wrong.  Ever since I broke up with cheating Chad two years ago I never found it again.
I took a sip of my latte, and looked out the window to see if I can find the slightest bit of inspiration to continue writing chapter 4.  All I have so far are the two main characters start to like each other, and deny their feelings for each other at first.  The guy asks the girl out on a date and she says yes thinking that it will the be the most amazing night of her life on Valentines day.  Sounds simple right?  Well she did have the most amazing night of her life on Valentines day, but it was so amazing that she wished she can re-live the whole night over again.  I'm now up to the part where she gets her wish, and she's living Valentines day over again.  After that was where the writers block came in.
"Unbelievable". I muttered.  It's been two hours, and I was still sitting in the exact same position as when I came in.  Luckily, I ordered another latte to get me through my writers block.  I glanced out the window again to take a look at all the stores with their Valentines day decorations up.  Even this cafe had all it's decorations up.  Just then I noticed a guy that was crossing the street.  I couldn't help but stare because there was this certain spark that he had.   Maybe he was the inspiration I needed to continue my writing.
I watched as he made his way into the cafe and up to the register to order his coffee.  I over heard him ordering a chi tea latte which was the same thing I ordered.  I smiled as he turned around.  He caught me looking at him, so I looked away and pretended I was busy typing on my laptop.  I looked over at him again, and he was still staring at me, smiling!!  "Oh my gosh.  A cute guy is actually looking at me and smiling.  This must be fate." I whispered to myself.  He was very cute looking with his hazel brown eyes, thick jet black hair, and his smile.  Oh my gosh when he smiled at me I almost melted.
Just then I got an idea on what else to write for chapter four of my book.  It was incredible.  The words just flowed out so easily, and I was quick to type them.  I didn't want to lose my concentration for fear that I might lose my train of thought.  Then I heard a door open and close.  I looked up and realized that the cute guy had gotten his coffee and left.  I quickly looked out the window to see where he was going but it was too late.  As soon as he left, my thoughts for chapter four left with him.
A few minutes later I looked out the window and noticed that the cute guy had come out of the flower shop carrying a bunch of roses.  Just then my thoughts hit me and I was able to continue writing chapter four.  I heard the door open and close again.  For some reason I felt like someone was standing in front of me just looking at me.  I stopped typing and looked up from my laptop to notice that the cute guy was staring at me, smiling, holding a bunch of roses.  We looked at each other for a few seconds.
"Hi, my name is Matthew."
"My name is Monica."
"I couldn't help but notice that you were sitting alone just looking at your laptop."
"I'm writing a book.  Are those flowers for your girlfriend?"
"No, they're for you."
"For me?"
"Yeah.  You look pretty with your hair tied up and those big green eyes of yours just sparkle.  I couldn't help but wonder.  What are you doing on Valentines day?"
When he asked that question I just smiled, and told him I had no plans.  He asked me out, and I said yes.  Tomorrow is going to be the best Valentines day ever.

Aw... This is just awesome and wonderful! I love your story! Your story is short and I had no problems with continuing until the last words. You did well!

When I read through the story, I just noticed a few typos. Here they are:

-All I saw were the baristas wearing THEIR Valentines day uniforms serving their special Valentines day coffee, and everyone with THEIR dates sitting at tables gazing into each others eye.

Overall, I enjoyed your story. Great one! Keep on writing! :)

Haha, you're very welcome! It happens to me as well, haha :)
Great way to make the story about a writer, who in a wierd twist of fate is writing about herself.
Enjoyed this particularly because it sounds like one of those essays professionals write about their average day (except for the love part). Good job, hope you keep writing!
