Salt & Pepper

Salt & Pepper

A Poem by Breezie Kae
"

Written during freshman year.

"

Today it was bliss,

hanging with old friends

the way it always used to be.

But it’s not the same without you.

I refuse to say “heart-broken,”

because that would be a lie.

Just “I miss you.”

Not what we were,

just you.

I miss the moments,

I miss the memories,

I miss our friendship.

And I don’t want "us" back,

because “us” killed me,

lying to myself just to feel you.

But I miss hands linked and salt and pepper,

and occasionally hearts connected;

but not us, you.

I don’t want you, I don’t love you,

I just want that friendship back

we swore we’d never lose.

This is very sweet. It shows that sometimes friendship is more important than love. *nods*
