Color of Love

Color of Love

A Poem by Breezie Kae

When you think of love,

you think of red,

but when I think of love,

I think of blue.

That sweet, crystalline blue.

Like the eyes of the first one I loved,

like the color of the sky.

Like the color that makes up all of us

in our veins.

Red may be passion, but blue is sweetness.

That’s how I like to think of love.

I like to think of love as spring,

not that dreadful winter.

Sure isn’t autumn,

and summer’s just for fun.

You can give me your yellows,

your browns, blacks, and rust,

but blue is the color of love.

Dear Writer, Whom Sends A Lot Of Read Requests (XD lol)

Thank you for the read request.

Roses are red, violets are blue... at least that is the foundation that I think you are building off of. You seem to play with your structure form varying from poem to poem. Watch out for spots that hold a lack of rhythm, as this cuts off flow. Like the line in the third stanza, "in our veins" cuts off flow because it's so small. Three syllables. Flow is always keep to the success of a poem. You do express yourself well, but add some repetition and rhyme to give it some flavor. It is essential that you develop writing habits and experiences that separate you from other writers so that you are recognized. Love the imagery of word usage too. There are places where you could have added a colon versus a period like in the fourth stanza "...but blue is sweetness: / that's how I like to think of love." It's all goooooood. 9.2/10.

Thanks again. Hope that you'll always keep and continue writing. n_n

Sincerely,
S. W. Scaggs

Love is a many splendored thing which runs the gamut of emotions and feelings. Light when fanned out through a prism, reveals that it contains the 7 color spectrum....to confine such a complex thing as love to one color doesn't work for me, but this poem does give us a glimpse of how you relate blue to love, rather than relating love to blue.

Interesting write though--
