Honestly

Honestly

A Poem by Dustin Reichmuth
"

Complications arise in the turning of the world, some so simple, some so complex, all staggering.

"
I can honestly say, with no conviction.
My love for you, my heart's worst invention.

A scattered mess, shies the floor.
Her head's saying, no more, no more.
Times will weep, times will change.
Sometimes, lives are in a world so strange.
Wounds will fade, while scars will heal.
Never to see something quite this real.

I can honestly say, with no translation.
Everything lies down with complications.

She will pace, and crawl these halls.
Before she's crying against the wall.
Painter's canvas, a builder's stone.
Who'd have thought they'd live alone.
Less talk is needed, for this way.
He'll beg and plead for her to stay.

I can honestly say, with hearts misfortune.
Sometimes lives aren't set in motion.

Phones will ring, to start the day.
Eyes will close, all the same.
Tears were shed, and hearts were broke.
An ice cold ignorance is spoke.
Lest the leaves fall from the trees.
Here I'll stand, enjoy the breeze.

I can honestly say, with nothing left.
I gave for you, my heart's content.
And I'll honestly say, all was true.
To the end, I'll love you.
