…. Beyond Belief

 

It is a mixture of emotion

A misconstrued notion

A mislead devotion

Tears run there normal motion

But evaporate on the cheek

And condensate back to meet

An eye left dry

Yet I still try

To break the ducks

Dismember the dam

With hopes to release enough water to swim upstream again

 

A heart left so cold

A prayer that has gotten so old

A sad story still being told

And here is the mold

Growing on a once so fresh soul

And now you see why my face doesn’t remember the smile

And it has been a while

Since I have experienced happiness in a lavish style

O how this joy is such a strain

How easy it is for pain

To gain

Entry to a heart left open

From hoping

For a brighter day

One my say

My last name is depression

But I’ve felt this through most of my years

It’s just a repeat of a past expression

An already channeled aggression

I wish to write down a path to digression

As I follow my poetry

I plead for poetry to set me free
