STORM

STORM

A Poem by Eagle Cruagh

STORM

Did you ever notice
Before a storm
The horizon  gets black
Not the norm

The wind picks up
Like nature blowing her nose
She`s trying to tell us
Get those sails below

I love this old ship
She was good to me
Will she weather another storm
We will wait and see

Shoulda seen rot in sails
Shoulda known
Now may be too late
Can`t stay tied

Gotta move  into the sea
Rub shoulders with the waves
Kick a*s or drown
Muscle her through another blow

Don`t cry for me did it to myself
Now it`s a screaming gale
Too late
Stick the bow deep into another wave

What`s this
The sun is coming out
If I had a place to stand
Would jump up and shout

I was expecting something a little more dark suprisingly, but never the less still a great piece. You used wonderful metaphors, and great desciptive language. You always do so much research before you write a poem to get the facts straight and that is admireable in a writer. At least the sailor didn't die, yes? Poor guy his boat is not so lucky though. Another great piece from Eagle Cruagh :3

You must be a sailor because you seem to understand the terminology and perils of the sea! well done!

I have a suggestion:
The wind picks up
Like nature (blowing her nose) blows her nose
She`s trying to tell us
Get those sails below

I liked your use of metaphors in this as well as the way the story/poem worked up to a climax in the end. Great work

This poem makes me feel kind of sad at first. It kept me moving right a long and I couldn't stop reading. I'm always happy when the story ends well. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I can equate this to a tumultuous relationship that find balance and ends well. This is a very good write. I am looking forward to more like it.

I've always loved poems that tell a story about storm tossed ships at sea. There's just something completely mystical about those poems because for me, it's like looking into a window from the past, when men braved the relentless oceans and storms in search of adventure and treasure. My most favorite Homer epic is The Odyssey because of the adventure aspect and I also love the myth of Jason and the Argonauts. Your poem reminded me of those stories so strongly. Well done!

That was excitine. I was sure the old ship would go down...I hope the sailor was saved when the sun came out...and I hope he does some maintainence on his ship...

Not sure what to say about this one. I was expecting a stormy romance.

The wind picks up
Like nature blows her nose
She`s trying to tell us
Get those sails below

Now nature has a cold? My five year-old says when lightning strikes, it's the wind farting. Perhaps I should use that as inspiration. lol
