COWBOY`S DREAM

COWBOY`S DREAM

A Poem by Eagle Cruagh
"

Bad weather and bad cows bring thoughts of love and tenderness.

"

COWBOY`S  DREAM

Cloudy in the West
And looks like rain
Damned ole slicker`s
In the wagon again

Old hoss is balk`n
He don`t like wet
Gonna go to town
And see her yet

Big blue eyes
Big as the sky
This lonesome life
I`m gonna die

If I don`t see my sweet love
Outa the rain
In our hide-a-way
I can`t live with all this pain

Kick him in the sides
Swing the braided quirt
 Wide around the herd
Forgetting dirt

Just live and dream
In this cold rain
Of another life
Tomorrow

If tomorrow comes
And I see her then
 I`ll come back
And tell you some

I like the way this poem flows, the way each line moves into the next effortlessly like a vibrant creek where each old slang word is a rock. The water still flows easily over the rocks, but each one creates liveliness. It's great to read a poem like this because I think this is what I find the hardest to do. And I feel like i'm there on that horse restless with the anticipation of seeing my love in town. Love it!

I very much enjoyed reading this poem.
The longing, the intensity.

Describing both sides, the pros and cons, the love and pain.

If I don`t see my sweet love
Outa the rain
In our hide-a-way
I can`t live with all this pain

Very good!

Thank you,

Limitality

Longing for the sweetheart--whether on the sea or the lone prairie, it's much the same. A good poem, Eagle.
