A LITTLE POME FOR YOU

A LITTLE POME FOR YOU

A Poem by Eagle Cruagh
"

A tongue in cheek look at contemporary poetry and those who love it........

"
A LITTLE POME FOR YOU

I thought I would write
A book of pomes
You know, those things that rhyme
Where Teddy`s bare
And Angel hair
All packaged in a tome

A pome is just a story
So I have been told
No commas needed or
Punctuation its all the same
A pome`s just old

Like Poe and Shelly and
Somebody by name of Yeats
A guy named Bud
And one called Mud
Enough to make your stomach ache

A book of pomes
Might be too many
Unless we think it through
Can`t have old or very bold
And definitely nothing new

I`ll just write about my old dog
We`ll call the old guy "Pard"
He lived outside  nobody cried
Because his home was in the yard

Awww  this is just rhymes
Not with the times
Not tender and morose
More of a joke
To take a poke at those with weepy eyes

Give me a break
Don`t call me one of them
Who writes and cries
And tells big lies
Just to get their slice of cake

I never lied
It was a sad and lonely life
Old Pard pined for me
And starved some too
Then he just up and died

What a crazy, wonderful piece of writing... love it!

There's a real tongue in cheek touch to this, obvious knowledge of poets' supreme but, a surreal slant on what they are or aren't

As to Pard who lived in the yard ..

' A book of pomes / Might be too many / Unless we think it through/ Can`t have old or very bold /And definitely nothing new ' I don't kknow why, maybe the meter, but these lines made me laugh aloud.

Thanks for writing this lovely end of the week piece of fun and, of course, for sharing it!

Big smiles on this one...I love the way you are poking fun at the, (sometimes too emotional), way we view and write poetry. Puts things into perspective in a way that you can do.

I loved your pome. Right up to the part where old pard starved. *frowns* Now that was just heartbreaking.. ;) This was very entertaining, yet again, thank you for sharing.

I just love your humorous wit! This was a delight to read and I chuckled out loud at the last line, as was your intent I assume. All to like in this, John. All to like....
I bet you are fun to be around.....and who doesn't love to have fun?!

Okay I loved this and the creative spelling made it a very fun read. You have a great sense of humor and it comes through with a lot of your writing. It was just so completely you.
