A short, very short story.

MY CAREER AS A JOURNALIST

 

My high school teacher who was also moderator

for the school newspaper instructed me to report

the next football game.

 

My report:

                          THEY  WON

 

Then I went off to college.  I thought , boy it would be neat

to write a poem, so I wrote about walking through a mirror.

Clever !   I submitted to Redbook magazine and subsequently

my poem was published under the name of my room mate.

 

Years later I volunteered to write a column in the San Francisco Dog News.   I had not realized that you have to

be very careful of dog owner`s feelings, they bite.

 

Then I wrote some old friend a letter, it came back unclaimed.

 

Then I joined Writer`s Cafe.   Well, you know how that went.

Everybody raved about my poems and stories and they must

have all rated me , "ordinary", 50 %  because the old rating

just keeps sliding off in to oblivion.

 

I joined facebook then.   Everybody said you can say what

you think, so I said what I thought and it disappeared.

 

Now this is going tooo danged far !

Short, very short, and quite entertaining. I think that was probably the best game report I've ever read, so I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet ;) But yes, I got the point.

Yep, been there done that for certain! It is the undeserved way of the journalist in all the ins and outs of a writer's fortune and misfortunes.
