Cave Man Sensitivities

A twig snaps in the bushes so many feet away

A scent of danger, a waft of wild beast comes near

Cave man grunts, moves closer to the fire

Hunched body turns, prepares more wood

Steps towards the open flames security

Fear is the only comfort in the forest

His company is the wilderness revealed

And becoming dinner for some savage animal

At this moment moving stealthily away

Daytime comes with angry wasp attacks

Brown leather skin resists

Later on there is a different odor lifting

Flowers not given names remain the same

Ferns hide a female form in search of berries

Slipping noiselessly through jigsaw underbrush

Bare ugly feet tread lightly with the mud

Black hair matted in the style of the day

Jagged teeth don't help her image much

Cave man runs after her with yum yum on his mind

Takes her as his wife informally from behind

Love at first sight is glorious in primal times

Mosquitoes remind them where they are

Manners are in short supply
