Tragedy of The Missing Little FeathersA Poem by Earl SchumackerFree VerseTragedy of The Missing Little Feathers
Lost in free flight while not thinking Birds have been known to fly right Fluffy white feathers fall off Detach from the wing in slow motion Fall ever so gently so innocently Earth is their destination Slow, non-emotional, drifting light things Flow to and fro to the movement In air, velocity means everything On oceans miles away Waves find a path to destruction Cold winds, feathers lift, drop in Go limp, drown, then sink Lost in free flight while not thinking Birds know to fly without missing a beat
