![]() Saturn Rings On The MoveA Poem by Earl Schumacker![]() The vast and the beautiful![]() Saturn Rings On The Move
Wicked distance spent, untouched What is it about Jupiter looming Colors swirl, ageless, without a break So many moons, so close it feels like home
Is it not a speck, a dot, fading under Saturn's influence Wondrous, dressed up in white, covered awake, in open space In the vacuum void, deep, all consuming beautiful No room for Jupiter this afternoon The universe requires rings, insists on rings of truth
Epochs pass in the vastness in syzygy, a celestial orbital path Sonorous bodies sound hollow but only to themselves on oceans black A place attended by star light, going back into histories darkest night Bold in repose, bent on light so far away, simply existing out of reach
Full circled gaseous world roams far Sounds on translucent Saturn move Designed in the silence of the cosmos
Bands of ice and rock lift up the planet Move slowly between their center empty Hover above to measure time displaced For days on end encircled, spinning still Fragments remain intact, translucent Saturn on the edge, steps out on more oblivion
Rings hang like halos over a decapitated head Then escape without the aid of gravity Move out with no notice to the owner Leaving Saturn naked, lost without its skirt Stripped of dignity
When ice rings leave their home No question there will be consequences They go off in no particular direction The universe is open to suggestion There is plenty of room in outer space for growth
