Reflections On Revenge

Reflections On Revenge

A Poem by Earl Schumacker
"

Quatrain

"

Revenge is not a mirror

It reflects no light

A precursor to life

A virus

Serving one god before the crime

There in the dark

When you wake up

A ghost

Ugly breath and matching face

There you are confronted

By an image crystal clear

A beard

If you are a woman

Smooth skin turns into wrinkles

You must stink of sin wafting with

A cheap perfume

Grab the image by the throat

Choke it, hurt it, it won't die

Only the reflection once upon

A time

Exactly where you start is where you end

Sweet revenge

On being born

Again
