The Inevitable

The Inevitable

A Poem by Earl Schumacker
"

Sunday Special - Little girls with curls wear ice cream on their dresses

"

The Inevitable

Under the golden sun of Holy Ghost

First Holy Communion little girl cursed

With braces in a pure white dress in lace

Blessed with cherry dimples so simple

In church then off to the ice cream parlor

Chocolate on a cone of course with sprinkles

Blonde hair bouncing on a spring of curls

Jumping for joy with her treat melting

All over the new white gown and veil

What could be more perfect

Why a wedding veil you silly person

Little girls with curls wear melted ice cream on their pretty white dresses. What a blessing.
