Roses Fall

Beautiful yellow roses fall from hand

Precisely in the moment of a nuclear explosion

Pretty mushroom clouds love to spread destruction

The ash pretends to be volcanic in its action

Lovely flowers turn in an instant to the void

Think bad thoughts of asteroid collisions on the Earth

So do buildings and occupants of houses

Power works that way on innocence these days

Was it a volcano or bomb or outer space invasion

Somehow it does not matter to the pretty flower

Roses once stood for friendship

Once upon a time with motivation

Before explosions took their love away

When things got out of hand

i like the theme ... the personifications at first seemed a little extreme but your closing brought it home for me...explosions like that can be deadly ...way too much of it in the world today ..and i believe as your poem implicates ..it spills out in ripples and affects everything around ..way too easily ... its a little more like prose to me ... a sad truth about anger in our lives :(

Hi E. Thanks for commenting. I wanted to make something short and simple. This one is less structured on purpose. I do a lot of story poems and try to avoid rhyme.
