Unmake The UniverseA Poem by Earl SchumackerLost love and the universeUnmake The Universe (Love Lost)
Unmake the universe one atom at a time Withdrawal before you make mistakes Babies will come out wrong Light waves move smoother in reverse They wave goodbye faster than they came Love at the atomic level moves on faith
When love is missing there goes the world Voids open up their cavities of black There goes the neighborhood and us Swallowed up in nothing Mysteries unravel as is their fate They shrivel up and die in outer space
Tell the universe to stop, to listen To remove minutes from the hours of the day Subtraction is a mission to that end Nothing was there in the beginning Nothing but empty space between the ears And now the space between us
Unmake the world in front of you Remove smiles from the face Wait for a chemical reaction Love works best that way The tide hides before it rises It waves goodbye one last time
