What Falls From Trees

In Autumn some green leaves remain

Untouched by the explosions of the fall

Trans- formative as is the nature of light

Bright colors in juxtaposition to the rain

Red fits in mixed company with orange gathering

Tree yellows are happier than yellow submarines

Parasols most fleeting when they break away

Magic folios as chemistry changes them to brown

And when they land there is but little sound

But when the breeze catches them in sleep

It whips them into a frenzy until they crunch

Trees stand tall with no hands and little chances

Their Skeletal branches reach their limits

When winds call to remove their little friends

Destined for decay the leaves still play

What falls from trees remains a mystery
