Eternity Comes

Eternity Comes

A Poem by Earl Schumacker
"

The limits of sex. The expanse of the Universe.

"

Eternity Comes

Comes lust with temporary fuels of pleasure

Burning with ephemeral flesh within the self

Ignites the night. Ignites the fire of fun

But it is you and only you consumed

To cinder out before the hour expires

Comes the Spirit before the dawn of stars

Forged long before the dinosaurs

Born before the moon to cast eternal light

With it fidelity casts a wider shadow

Comes love with every beating heart

It is eternity knocking at your door

If it comes in the door will never shut

How can it since it is God Himself
