My Lost Friend

My Lost Friend

A Poem by EdenJoseph
"

A poem

"
We used to have laughs
      and talks
      and stories.
You used to believe I could be anything.
I could talk to you
and you could talk to me
and there would be no silences
Unless they were pleasant ones.
Now we have fights
      and backs turned
      and questions
Wondering, "Are you still there?"
You only believe in what's possible what's real,
No longer that I could reach the stars
If I wanted them.
Years now, I've yearned for my lost friend
Whose words were always warm and uplifting.
But I get a "Not now" or "Please leave a voice mail."
And all that silence leaves room for pain.
I never thought this was what growing up was.
That my "Daddy!" would become a mere "Dad?"
Now I no longer know you,
nor you me.
But I wish to meet you again.

Sometimes not meeting the people you want to meet in life spares you from the pain you would invariably experience when you put your faithi in them and find out that they're not all they're cracked up to be. That's why you don't put your faith in people at all. The sad fact of life is that people are out for no one but themselves. If they do something for you, it's not out of a sense of goodness most of the time, but out of a sense of keeping you hooked until they need you again. That is why I shun human comfort and association.

You'll also find that people's love for you is in direct relation to how useful you are to them, and how they feel at the time. They go from liking you one minute to hating you the next. Just not worth the pain to me.
