Thoughts of a Dying Man

Thoughts of a Dying Man

A Poem by Edizen

Lay me down in the river where the blood becomes undressed.
Sing me songs of home to quell my fears and my unrest.
Pull me closer to you now, close enough that I may hear,
Every word, from your heart, every word.

I feel the toll of my sins as they turn my body cold.
Leaving you unfairly here, without a hand to hold.
I'm losing sight of all before me now, and it only finds me scared.
I'm unprepared, to leave here, unprepared.

Ready now my body for the earth beneath your feet.
Que now my friends and family, that they may in chorus weep.
Keep for me in memory, my name forevermore,
And may all the things you know of me, be found in heart your home.

Man's Life was made fickle, like a house of cards.
And every breath taken slight, could tear the pieces part.
If there be anything I could wish for you before I do depart.
May you live, may you love, and learn again to share your heart.

About
I like poems, but poetry is not something I do often, and whenever I do they are all usually done in my head, I make them, sleep on them and forget them, so I thought perhaps it is time I try my hand .. more..
