Cindy slowly turned her head towards me and thats when I felt it. Someone was standing behind me. Everything happened so quickly, I didn't even think twice, I spun around as fast I could swinging the toilet cover like a bat.

THUMP. So that's what it sounded like when you hit someone with a ceramic toilet cover. Whoever I hit was already getting up.

"Stay down, man. I don't want to hit you again."

I back up a bit prepping for another swing. Focusing on my target I realized something as he got back up. He or she didn't have any ears.

S**t. Did I just hit a deaf person? How do you apologize in sign language?

At this point, I started yelling cause I thought it would help.

"HEY! YOU OKAY? I M SORRY, I DIDNT REALIZE YOU WERE DEAF!"

They started wobbling in place, dazed. I put my hand on their shoulder to help them regain balance. They slowly spun around, and this was the first time I ever pissed myself out of fear.
Whatever was in front of me was barely human. More like a mutilated form of it. Both eyes were foggy, their nose and lips were gone exposing rotten teethe, and a wider than normal mouth. It's breathe smelled like s**t.

"What the f**k!?"

Cindy let out a scream and it screamed. Cindy didn't hold a candle next to this thing. I took the brunt of the force. I could feel my heart papultate, I felt blood dripping down my nose and ears then everything got really quiet. I felt like I might pass out. In a desperate attempt I smashed the toilet cover against its face one last time. I fell on all fours, getting glass in my hand. Cindy pulled me by the shoulders, I got up. Cindy started yelling but I couldn't hear a word, I had become deaf. I knew I should have learned sign language.

"Daniel! We gotta get out of here! Marco, is dead! We gotta leave before that thing gets up again."

I tried reading her lips and reading her body language. She pointed at Marco, I looked over and noticed he wasn't moving anymore. My best friend had passed on. It looked like Cindy said something about tacos, I must have been losing it. She started pulling me by the arm, I followed. All the bodies on the ground were now moving. Was this some kind of evil joke everyone was playing on me? Were they all getting up to laugh at my expense? Did someone spike my drink? Did I die and go to Hell?

Cindy kept yelling at me as we moved along.

"Daniel, we gotta go to the police. We gotta tell them what's going on."

Something about pogo sticks. Man, I suck at lip reading.

We finally made it to the exit, Cindy pushed through the door. We stepped out onto the sidewalk... I was in Hell.
