Not My Day

Not My Day

A Poem by Egao-onna

It’s some big night

And I’m stuck in hell

The door creaks

He walks up the stairs

And tells me to put on shoes

We leave in five minutes

I put on a jacket

Stuff my feet in my shoes

And bring my ipod

It’ll be a long night

I hurry to the car

My siblings pile in after me

We drive for a distance

But I can’t concentrate

We get there, and are greeting with loud noise

And the smell of alcohol and cigarette smoke

He and She leave me to watch

About fifteen children

Only one other close to my age is there

His name is katsuki

But he doesn’t do much

So I make sure

No one gets hurt

Lest I suffer

I keep toddlers away from sharp objects

And give the older ones a game to play

I hear shrieking laughter

From the other room

And glasses clinking together

I roll my eyes in disgust

A few hours later

We can finally return back

This time, no one got hurt

For which I am thankful

I will not suffer for that tonight
