Living a Lie

Living a Lie

A Poem by Elaenor Aisling
"

We all have at one time or another...

"
The lie,
That eats away
drives away
decays
the dream of what we are
of what we have been
what we could be
The dream that is our own
No one else’s
Ours
Our soul’s
Our mind’s
Our being’s
It is what we are
It is us
And we are it

But lies
They eat away
Slowly
But surely
We live them for others
Who wish to change
What we are
What we were
And what we can be
They have lived the lie
So long
That’s all that is left
A rotting lie
That spreads like plague
From heart to heart
Dream to dream
Soul to soul
Till all that lies left,
Is a fragment
A sliver
A scrap
Of the dream
That was once
So beautiful
Strong
Vibrant

Only the Truth
Can set you free….
