Her Forgiveness

Her Forgiveness

A Poem by Chelsea Marie
"

This poem is from the point of view of someone that sees every ounce of beauty that this lovely Earth holds, and who extends their horror of what humans have done to her.

"

I can see you through the trees,

Many times I want to hit my knees,

But you take my hand.

I see the water,

I see the earth.

I see the beauty that spreads from her.

But I see ashes on the winds,

Ashes that once were her skin.

Burnt away by our toils,

Burnt away by our needs,

Burnt away by our desires,

Burnt away by our greed.

Sometimes, I lay awake

And watch you rise to the sky.

I am filled with so much grief.

How many times have we made you cry?

Oh, Great Mother, what have we done?

Nothing has been gained,

Nothing has been won.

Children need a mother's love,

Not a fire's.
