Bladelust

Bladelust

A Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield
"

Kind of an unfinished thought...

"

You stare at the scars

On your wrists

On your arms

And wish

Do you wish for the pain?

No

Do you wish for the release?

No

What is it that you seek?

The pleasure of the blade

Dancing o'er your skin

Biting into your flesh

A long lost lover

Come home once again

This is the truth

Of the BladeLust

Once a lover of the Blade

Always condemed

To love the Blade

Maybe not in the same way...

But that which you live by

You live for

The BladeLust

A strangely powerful tool

And my weapon of war...

Author's Note

Elizabeth Porterfield
I wrote this a while back about how much I love blades... It's strange, bc you'd think someone who had trouble with cutting and finally gave it up would hate blades... but I love them... So both the blade, and the bladelust would be my weapons of war.... Anyway, what do you think?

Thank you very kindly:)
Strangely powerful tool indeed! The way you made the blade seem like a living entity was creative! I love when poets/writers give life to things, empowering them into a person! The sorrow of the Bladelust is a demonic pleasure to many, an opt way out to some...you've capture it nicely in your ink!
