![]() The Way They See MeA Poem by Elizabeth Porterfield![]() This is for those people who have that one person whose always telling you that you are exactly what you fear...![]() The Way They See Me She tells me I am everything I’ve always feared becoming The w***e who uses guys as playthings The girl who’ll come home crying one day Wondering what she did wrong As she stares at her bruises She doesn’t understand me at all She misreads me caring for my guy friends My family As me teasing them Tempting them to make a move My brothers!!! But I have no brothers she says Just guys I play around with She tells me that one of these days They will grow tired of my games That one of them will take me Beat me, Rape me, and maybe even Kill me She tells me the best thing my fiancée could do Would be to drop me To throw me out on my a*s She tells me I don’t deserve him That maybe he should get to know “The Real Me” The s**t that she sees The girl that pushes everyone out of her way And doesn’t give a s**t if they get hurt My little sister even sees me as a skank And she doesn’t even know The half of my story What if they’re right? What if I’m nothing more than my greatest fears Come to life? Sometimes I wish… I just wish I were dead and gone And far away from this But maybe I don’t deserve that escape either It seems I’ll never be free Of the way they see me… © 2013 Elizabeth PorterfieldAuthor's Note
